Nissan Skyline GTR: A Racer That Is Affordable

The Future of the Nissan Skyline GTR Line

As news traveled, it is said that an international Nissan GTR model will appear on the market by the end of 2007, showcasing a 2008 model. The traditional formula that once graced previous GTR versions will be no more. Many different modifications will be made, including deviations from the body type and sedan-style. The "Skyline" will also become absent from the naming of this new car model.

The slight changes that appeared in the R32 through R42 models of the Skyline GTR will also fade. An aggressive approach towards design will also be seen through the newer model. Nissan plans to introduce a car that no longer presents the traditional straight-6 engine, but offers consumers a twin-turbocharged V6. As for the registration of trademarks, the new GTR models will appear in Japan, Australia, Canada, and Europe, offering models to accommodate both left-handed and right-handed drivers. Also, in Japan, for the newer GTR models to thrive, they must also pass newer, tougher emission laws.

When it comes to marketing, the newer GTR models like the Skyline will carry along advertisements that promote the vehicle as being able to provide many advancements in car technology. During the Tokyo Motor Show in 2005, Nissan revealed a prototype for their new GTR line. Only a couple of changes to the unveiled concept is said to take place.

If you've ever owned or fell in love with the design and characteristics of the Nissan Skyline GTR, you might want to take a look at some of the enhancements that the new GTR will provide. To view the production version of the latest GTR, you should keep an eye out for the press coverage involving the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show, as the car is primed for a final launch within the Japanese market during the fall of 2007. In Spring 2006, the latest GTR will make an appearance in the United States market.

Nissan Skyline GT-R: The Prince, Part 2

Author: Adrian Adams

Article:
The GTR, like many cars, has a different look and feel for most
years. For 1995, the Nissan Skyline GT-R got a sportier look to
the exterior. The suspension was also improved upon to give the
car more ground clearance. The special edition was released in
1997 with an upgraded engine, suspension, and exhaust. This car
handled unbelievably well at speeds of over 200 miles per hour!
For 2000, the car got a face lift with the interior being
changed from grey to black. The console area was also widened.
The car remained the same except it was shortened some through
2002.

Part of the reason production was stopped for this vehicle is
because it has never met the requirements of the US until now.
Motorex has announced a street legal Nissan Skyline GT-R is
ready for release. It is expected to roll out internationally
later in 2007 with a 2008 model. This car comes with some body
changes but it is still easy to maneuver and very fast.

Are you looking for a car that is incredibly fast and has an
awesome design? The Nissan Skyline GT-R in the past has only
been seen in the racing world, especially the underground street
racing circuit. It became well known for speed and being easy to
handle because of having rear wheel drive options.

This 2008 model will feature a V-6 twin turbo engine, to keep
the overall weight of the vehicle low. This will help it
maintain speed. It will have 450 horsepower and still meet all
the emission regulations. The pistons and connecting rods are
made of forged steel. You will also see an improved turbocharger
layout and output. Models of the 2008 Nissan Skyline GT-R will
be available at various car shows during 2007. You can also
start ordering them through dealerships around August of 2007.
It is going to be a huge competitor to the Ford Mustang and the
new Chevy Camaro that will be out in 2009.

Is your R32 Skyline running rough?

Author: Paul

Article:
On another topic, we had a 1993 R32 Skyline GTS-t in stock and
had some rough running issues. The car would sometimes run fine
and then have a missing problem. First we pulled out the spark
plugs an checked and gapped them but they seemed OK so I wasn't
confident that thats where the problem lay... it wasn't the
spark plugs. We then thought that maybe a coil had decided to
commit suicide so found a good one laying around the workshop
and went about swapping each coil in turn to try and find the
dead one. We found that the number 4 coil plug wasn't connected
properly and that seemed to cure the missing for a while however
it returned on a second test drive. I then remembered a problem
I had with a Nissan Cefiro not so long ago where the pins on the
module were badly corroded so the 2 plugs that connect it to the
wiring harness couldn't make a good connection. I cleaned them
up with a small file and contact cleaner and it cured the
problem. As this was also an RB20 engine with the identical
ignition module, I did the same and voila!... hasn't missed a
beat since. So, if anyone out there has an RB20 with rough
running problems don't waste time like we did... clean those
pins up first and if that doesn't work then try the spark plugs
and coils. (for those who don't know, the ignition module is
that black box on the top of the engine at the back with 2 plugs
connected to it)

Luxury and Sports in one package R35/G35 Nissan Skyline

Author: Glenn M Munn

Article:
The radical R35 Nissan skyline is completely different to
previous models you get the felling that it was Nissans
intention to tackle the likes of BMW and Mercedes. Let start
with the new shape a very modern design with smooth curves and
lines which make it look very European /American.

The front of the car features a huge grill (which is a bit big
for my liking) and sexy vertical style headlights. Moving to the
side view the car looks very bulky with huge doors and smooth
enlarged guards which look a lot less deliberate than that of a
GTR. From the rear to the car looks great with twin exhaust tips
and LED brake lights, but much to my disappointment the stove
top tail-lights are gone.

The interior of the car looks great and again has a European
feel about it. This Skyline has much more leg room than previous
models but due to the sloping room there is little heat room in
the back for tall passengers. Airbags are standard of course,
along with a 6 stack cd player, and climate control. All
controls are at arms reach and are very easy to use.

This Nissan skyline shares the same layout and engine as the
350Z but has a more luxurious style about it. The wheel base is
slightly longer and the ride is more comfortable because of this
the 350z is probably a slightly better performer. A 3.5L V6
replaces the aging RB engine and let me tell you it's a beauty,
with 206kw @ 6000rpm and Nm at 4'800rpm. This engine performs
and sounds fantastic the RB engine was good but you just can't
beat the throttle response of an NA.

The new platform ignores the notion that 50:50 front-to-rear
weight distribution is the key to balanced handling. Nissan has
employed a distribution of 53:47 this takes into account the
pre-load which occurs when steering into a corner and
counterbalances as weight shifts to the rear under acceleration,
the result is a more stable feeling car. Vehicle Dynamic Control
(VDC) replaces the old HICAS system, using a number of sensors
it reduces both under and over-steer by applying brake pressure
or cutting power from individual wheels. This technology makes
the car very easy drive at the limit.

Over all the R35 Skyline is a fantastic much improved car it has
lost some of its hardcore sport-ness but this has been replaced
with a more luxurious livable car. I put this car in a different
class to that of previous models and place it up their with more
luxury sports cars like BMW and Audi. I believe the R35 Nissan
Skyline appeals to a larger audience which is good news for
Nissan. For pictures, videos and more information about this
skyline and more I recommend you visit

An Inside Look At The Nissan Skyline

Author: Vincent Abrugar

Article:
Not commonly found in the United States, the Nissan Skyline is a
Japanese sports car with a lot of history. Dating back 45 years,
the Nissan Skyline has received many awards and has earned the
nickname "Godzilla." While it's far from being the monster
machine that it's nickname implies, this Japanese original is
larger than life.

After an absence in production for 10 years, Nissan announced
that it would release a new GT-R Skyline model in 1989. It was
set to compete in the Japan Touring Car Group A racing series
and lead the field in an undefeated first season. For the next
four years, the GT-R Nissan Skyline was awarded the Japan
Touring Car Group A championship. In 1994, in honor of it's
spectacular achievements, the Nissan Skyline was given it's own
series, which was called the Japan GT Car series. For the years
ahead, the Nissan Skyline proved to be a dominating force in
Japanese racing. Ultimately, there was never a Skyline GT-R made
to comply with standards set forth by the United States.
However, Motorex imports and modifies the Nissan Skyline GT-R in
order to meet requirements so that the cars may be sold in
America.

The Nissan Skyline automobiles are popular among youngsters, as
well. Ok, so maybe they don't have a license to drive, but they
can certainly burn some rubber on video games and that's exactly
what they are doing. Throughout the years, racing video games
have become very popular among kids of all ages - both young and
old. The Nissan Skyline has appeared in numerous video games
after being recognized for it's speed and sleek sporty design.
Along those same lines, the Nissan Skyline has been recognized
in many of the biggest motion pictures to feature a racing
theme. Clearly, the motto for these cars are outlined in their
sleek design and sports car appearance.

The Nissan Skyline is an intermediate-size automobile, which is
originally manufactured in Japan before being exported to other
countries. It is sold as either a coupe or sedan style
automobile and has been produced, in various models, since the
1950s. In 2008, the next generation of Nissan Skyline GT-R
automobiles may be sold in the United States. Until that time,
these luxury style sports cars can be converted to local
standards by various manufacturers who agree to sale the
automobiles. Only time will tell what the Nissan Skyline has in
store but, with its rich racing history, you can bet they will
race out of stock.

Affordable Performance Nissan Skyline R33 GTS25-T

Author: Glenn Munn

Article:
In 1993 the all new Nissan Skyline R33 GTS25-T replaced the
successful R32 GTS- T. Little brother to the all conquering GTR
the GTS25-T is more affordable and still a thrilling ride. It
features a more modern new shape with smooth lines rather than
the sharp edges of the previous model. The new looks were
debatable some liked the newer styling of the R33 and some
preferred the harder edges of the R32.

On the road with the R33 the first thing you notice is how
smooth the R25DET engine is power delivery is linier and the car
pulls hard from 3000rpm to the 7000 rpm redline. The manual
coupe version will propel you from 0-100 in 6.18 seconds and
complete the quarter in 14.4. Maximum power is 187kw at 6400 and
a max torque 295nm at 4800.

The RB25DET is a ripper and featured technology ahead of it
time. The 2.5 liter turbo intercooled straight 6 features a twin
cam head with variable valve timing on the intake side.

Handling of the coupe is great with a good balance between
comfort and a sports like feel. The rear of the car steered by a
system called HICAS which works by calculating the speed and
angle of the car through the corners. This feature seems to
minimize under- steer and kept the car flat through the corner.
The rear on the car is equipped with a viscous LSD and steps out
ever so progressively when pushing hard. This makes the car easy
to control but if pushed to hard it would be easy to loose the
rear end. The skyline is a medium size coupe weighing in at
1360kg and when cornering its a great drive but not quiet as
direct or nibble though the bends as the lighter R32 was. But
light suspension modifications improve handling significantly.

In Australia a good series 1 GTS25-T can be picked up for around
$17,000 and a series 2 for around 20,000. With standard features
including electric windows and climate control I thinks it is
great value for money. With light modifications to the engine
and suspension this car can be turned into a street weapon.

Baby Godzilla Nissan Skyline R32 GTS-T

Author: Glenn Munn

Article:
In 1989 the R32 GTS-T was born with specifications way ahead of
its time. The R32 was smaller in size compared to the old boxed
shaped R31, looking much more like a sports car than a family
sedan. The box shape was refined dramatically and the famous
round stove top tail lights were retained. The interior was
dramatically improved to make you actually feel like your
sitting in a sports car.

The silky smooth RB20DET engine suits was introduced to the R32
and really compliments the car well but lacks a little torque..
The 158kw is produced by a 2 liter, twin cam, inline 6, with
variable valve timing on the engines intake. Air is forced into
the engine via a turbocharger with a ceramic exhaust wheel for
quick spooling. Air is further cooled via side mounted air to
air intercooler. All this technology back in 1989 meant the
Skyline was capable of achieving 0-100 in 6.5 seconds and the
400m sprint in 14.8 seconds.

Driving the R32 is fantastic it weighs 1320kg's and is equipped
with independent multilink suspension on all 4 corners. This
equates to a direct steering feel and great handling. Another
technical gadget shared with its bigger GTR brother is a 4 wheel
steering system called HICAS, which stands for High Capacity
Actively Controlled Steering. This system as the name suggests
actively steers the rear when cornering, the amount the rear
wheels turn is depended on speed and cornering angle. This
device seems to reduce under-steer giving the Skyline a flatter
cornering feel.

Tuning potential for the R32 is fantastic add a nice free
flowing exhaust and intake and the RB20DET really comes to life
and sounds great too. You can add another 25+kw to the factory
claimed 158kw with these 2 modifications alone. Stiffer
sway-bars front and rear will drastically improve the already
fantastic handling. In Australia a Nissan Skyline R32 GTS-T
coupe can be picked up for 10-14 thousand dollars this is good
value for money for amount of performance they deliver.

Pure Performance R34 Nissan Skyline GTR

Author: Glenn Munn

Article:
In 1999 the Nissan Skyline R34 GTR came to life, the latest
model, and the best GTR yet. Styling is superb with an all new
much more aggressive shape; it looks like a car to be reckoned
with. The R34 GTR looks and feels like it got the best from both
of the R32 and R33 models in one package.

The interior is simple, sporty, and luxurious, with plenty of
head and leg room for taller drivers. Seats are comfy for long
trips yet still hold you in when cornering hard. Centre gauges
have been replaced with a LCD screen. This shows loads of
information like, throttle position, boost pressure, torque
split, a built in G-meter, and it has a com-port so you can
download your trips data onto a laptop.

In an effort to reproduce the handling feel of the much loved
R32 GTR the wheel base was shortened b 7.5cm, chassis rigidity
was improved by 50 percent, and the suspension was greatly
improved. Revised multi-link rear suspension featured at the
rear with McPherson struts with an additional link up front. Ten
years had passed since the R32 but the same techno wizardry
(HICAS and ATTESSA) remains but these features where greatly
improved.

The RB26DETT engine still remains but again improvements where
made and because of this the engine has become smoother and
quieter. The torque curve has improved and remains flatter
throughout the rev range, 400nm is achieved at 4,400rpm this has
made the engine more flexible.

Turbo chargers where also revised featuring a dual ball bearing
core which reduced lag and improved the power band. The gear box
was replaced by a 6 speed getrag which features, shorter ratios,
and a shorter throws. Acceleration times have improved, 0-100 is
achieved in 4.9 seconds and the 400m sprint in completed in
12.9.

These refinements make driving the GTR a pleasure with every
aspect improved. Steering is responsive and grip is phenomenal
making this GTR a true cornering machine. Ride quality is on the
firm side but harsh bumps are absorbed well, but this is a
sports car after all.

Nissan certainly got it right with the R34 you get the extra
space and luxury that the R33 provided, as well as the race like
feel of the R32. Simply put this Nissan Skyline is well hell of
a sports car. For more information on I recommend you visit this

The Ultimate Nissan Skyline NISMO Z-TUNE

Author: Glenn M MunnArticle:With the 34 GTR no longer in production Nismo decided toattempt building what they believed to be the ultimate NissanSkyline GTR. Utilizing many years experience within differentracing scenes it could be argued that Nismo should have theability to do exactly that. This vehicle was to benefit from themany years of success Nismo had within motor racing. Successfulrace cars include the Gr-A, N1, GT500, and the "Nürburgringspecification," This car had be comfortable for the street andcomply with today's new and strict emission laws, perhapsNismo's biggest challenge to date. The basic concept of the car was completed in 2000 when Nismocompeted in what was called the "tuners battle" power wasrestricted to 600ps and Nismo came out on top. This concept wasthen taken to the next level were luxuries had to be added tomake the car comfortable for street use. Making a race carstreet friendly has many challengers brake and clutch feel needsto be light and easy to use, suspension needs to softer, andluxuries like Leather seats and air-conditioning need to beadded. All these luxuries add weight so Nismo had to find a way to shedit and carbon fiber was the answer. This killed two birds withone stone by using carbon fiber chassis rigidity was alsoimproved. To improve chassis rigidity even further the, doorframes, front strut upper hood reinforcement area, and centertunnel were all spot welded and CFRP adhered. The aero parts ofthe car including the front bumper, front blister fenders, andhood were all made of highly ridged carbon fiber. Aero parts were designed with cooling and down force in mind. The front bumper has large air ducts so cool air is fed to theengine, brakes and oil coolers. Fenders were widened 15mm to fitwider tread and has ducts inside the engine bay to exhaust hotair from the engine bay. The bonnet also contains ducts toexhaust hot air and utilizes a duct to ram cool air into theintake at high speeds. Front and rear under spoilers are used toimprove down force. Beating in the heart of the Nissan Skyline is a race editionRB26DETT which had proven itself lemans 24 hour race and namedthe Z2. This engine generates 368kw and 540Nm. NISMO utilizedthe many parts which had been proven on race engines and eachengine was carefully hand built by Nismo mechanics and engineersto ensure the finest quality. Many would agree that the Nismo Nissan Skyline GTR is theultimate street performance car. It is luxuries, tame enough todrive on the street comfortably and yet its race bread heritagemeans it still performs brilliantly on the race track. In beastmotoring #15 the Nismo Z-tune broke the street car lap recordpreviously held by the Ferrari F360R.Pictures, more specifications plus a time attack video betweenthe Z- tune and the Ferrari can be seen at this websitenissanskyline.6te.net.Glenn Munn Skyline Enthusiast About the author:Glenn Munn has been a sports car Enthusiast for many years.
